Biomedical Research Institute
This biomedical research institute expansion required VDC coordination for a highly specialized laboratory facility with clean-room requirements, complex medical gas distribution, and structural connections to an existing building. The existing structure had significant documentation gaps that laser scanning needed to resolve before new work could be coordinated.
Laser scanning documented the existing building interfaces, creating a verified as-built base. From there, structural connections, MEP penetrations through existing slab and walls, and the new 5-story addition were coordinated in the federated model. 4D scheduling addressed phased construction around an active research institute.
Verified as-built model for existing structure connections, clash-free MEP coordination for clean-room systems, 4D simulation for phased construction minimizing research disruption.
